Practice settings & line detection

Tune how Offbook listens, when it advances, and how the script looks on screen.

Line detection modes

Open Scene Controls → Line Detection to choose how Offbook decides you've finished a line:

  • Strict: expects wording close to the script. Fewer accidental advances; best once you're nearly off book.
  • Lenient: more forgiving of paraphrasing. A leniency slider (0-100) lets you dial in exactly how forgiving, from Strict through Neutral to Forgiving.
  • Manual: Offbook never advances on its own. You move on by pressing Enter, clicking Next, or saying "next line".

Auto-advance on silence

With auto-advance on, the scene moves forward after a stretch of silence, which helps when you trail off or a line just isn't matching. Pick a delay from 1 to 6 seconds. (Not available in Manual mode.)

Teleprompter mode

Teleprompter mode shows your active line front and center and highlights each word in real time as you say it, so you get instant feedback on exactly where you are. You can adjust the teleprompter text size to suit your distance from the screen.

Display options

  • Font size: scale the script text from 10 to 24 pt.
  • Playback speed: set the default speed for AI-read lines; you can also override speed per line in the scene editor.
  • Hide start marker: ignore the start marker and always begin from the top.
  • Theme: pick one of six accent colors or set a custom one to change the app's highlight color.
Tip: Rehearsing movement or on your feet? Combine Teleprompter mode with a larger text size and lenient detection so you can stay off the keyboard entirely.
